Q. Explain the minimum order again for me please? No problem. This product does not do well shipping UPS ground, FedEx ground or anyway shape or form ground. It has to really should ship on a wooden pallet. The 40SF weight secures it so it cannot shift in transit we need weight. That is achieved with 40 square feet. That can be 10 Square Feet of 2x4 and 30 Square Feet of the 3x6 it could be Glass and Marble, It could be anything we just need to get the quantity to 40 Square Feet to make sure the shipment on a pallet cannot shift while it makes its journey to you. Keeping it safe.
Q. What if I am willing to accept some risk? What if I know ground shipments get thrown around and I know shipping companies see Fragile Glass Handle with Care as a suggestion. As a potential customer I recognize there will be an element of damage?
Then you my friend are someone we can work with. If you understand that a broken piece can just be pulled off the mesh, or a chipped end piece can be used as a cut end piece or just thrown away and replaced. Then together we can make this happen.
I would assume 15-20% could be chipped (this is in addition to the 10% extra for cuts and waste), so on a 30SF job you could order 36SF. On 20SF you would order 26SF. We do not know what the damage percentage will be, but there will be some. (that is why we had to institute the min order policy, but there has been a lot of resistance - people want 2x4" Glass Subway Tiles for $9.99SF a square foot and they want us to get it to them). Replace the damaged pieces with the excess you have ordered. Or opt for 40SF option and we can ship it UPS freight on a pallet the wooden structure of the pallet can help support the shipment making it more secure. Our strategy is keeping the product high quality, low pricing and free shipping, but we cannot do it alone. If every customer calls to complain about one chip this will soon be a $15SF product to cover the cost of managing it, that is not efficient, just over order and work with it.
Please note in comments if you order less than 40SF you understand the risk of damage shipping ground
